Meet Malia: Relationship and Young Adulthood Therapy
You’re a college student or a woman in your 20s and 30s finding your way—figuring out who you are, what you stand for, and how you want your future to unfold in an ever-changing, uncertain world.
What you didn’t expect is how hard it might feel: juggling classes, work, friendships, romantic relationships, and navigating family dynamics where you’re an adult now but still treated like a “kid” at times.
Amid it all, there’s a constant hum of anxiety, making it hard to feel settled—like nothing is safe, and you can never do enough for the people around you.
With authentic and thoughtful guidance, I can help you build confidence, discover who you are, set healthy boundaries, and manage anxiety in a holistic, empowered way.

First Time in Therapy
About Malia: Therapist for Young Adults and College Students
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and holistic-minded therapist specializing in helping young adults, college students, and women navigate life’s big and small transitions—whether it’s leaving home, starting school, graduating, moving to a new city, or taking the next step in a relationship.
My approach is rooted in mindfulness-based practices like DBT, IFS, and person-centered therapy. I also incorporate solution-focused therapy, designed to help you uncover your inner strength and take meaningful action during challenging times.
First time in therapy? I’ve got you.
Sessions with me are guided by your unique needs and goals. This is your space to focus entirely on you and what you want in life. While I’ll provide structure and guidance, my role isn’t to tell you what to do (you’ve got enough people doing that!). Instead, I’ll help you uncover the voice within that knows what you need—or is at least ready to experiment with possibilities.

Item description
A Holistic Approach to Your Therapy
While therapy is a powerful tool for mental well-being, I know it’s just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to building a happier, more balanced life.
My holistic approach begins with going back to the basics—compassionately and gently exploring how your body is doing. This might mean looking at your sleep patterns, movement, nutrition, or even how much time you spend on screens (trust me, I’ve had my fair share of doom scrolling!). We might also consider the quality of your relationships or practices like massage or other bodywork, as they can deeply affect your overall well-being.
You are so much more than just your brain.
Your body and nervous system have a profound impact on your mood and how you experience the world. Together, we’ll weave in mindfulness, somatic practices, and a sense of curiosity to uncover what supports you best—not just in therapy, but in your day-to-day life.

Relationships & Young Adulthood Therapy: How Malia Can Support You
-
Dating & Relationships
___
Whether you’re exploring cohabitation, entering the dating world, or navigating a “situationship,” I can help you create the relationships you want and set healthy boundaries. Together, we’ll work toward building the romantic relationship and connections that feel good to you.
-
Navigating Family Dynamics
___
Stepping into adulthood while your family still sees you as the “kid” can be both confusing and frustrating. I’ll help you set boundaries, advocate for yourself, and navigate situations like holiday gatherings or long-standing family patterns in a way that feels authentic to you.
-
Friendships & Conflict
___
As you grow into adulthood, friendships often take on a deeper significance—but they can also become more complex. I can support you in navigating these dynamics – including setting boundaries, saying no, and spending time with people who align with your values.
-
Career Exploration
___
Whether you’re just starting college, considering leveling up your career, or feeling uncertain about next steps, we’ll work together to clarify what’s meaningful to you. I can help you explore your goals, tap into your strengths, and take confident steps toward a career that feels aligned with how you want to impact the world.
EMDR & Resourcing Tools with Malia
In a world that feels more uncertain by the second, EMDR Therapy can be an incredible tool to help you calm and regulate your nervous system.
My approach to EMDR first includes teaching you resourcing tools – which is another way of saying simple practices to help you calm and regulate your nervous system. You will learn to apply and practice these tools whenever you need them–before a test, after a challenging text conversation with a friend, setting a boundary with a loved one, or just when you’re feeling stressed.
EMDR Therapy also allows us to access deeper patterns that talk therapy might not fully reach. If you’re doing the work but still feel stuck, EMDR can help us explore hidden beliefs, emotions, or experiences that may be keeping you from moving forward. Through reprocessing, we can help clear those blocks and create lasting change.
If you are curious about EMDR Therapy, please feel free to reach out and schedule a consultation, or learn more here.
Supervision for School-Based Social Workers & Pre-Licensed Therapists
I offer supervision for pre-licensed therapists and school-based social workers transitioning into private clinical work, including moving into private practice.
I understand the unique challenges you face providing clinical care in the school setting. You’re often working with children who’ve experienced significant trauma and have limited resources, all while being bound by systems and policies that can perpetuate the trauma your clients have faced.
With over 5 years of experience as a school social worker, I can help support you in being an effective, compassionate therapist, even on the days when it feels like your work is just a drop in the bucket.
If you’re ready to transition into private practice, I can show you how your school-based skills actually set you apart from other therapists and can be easily leveraged for success in private practice.
